LAND TAX – REVENUE SA ACTION REQUEST
Over the last few weeks you may have received a letter from Revenue SA relating to Land Tax changes requesting you to take action by a specified date regarding property that you have an interest in.
These letters have been sent to all property owners that have an interest in property that is not their principal place of residence and is owned directly or indirectly. There is a different due date for action required unique to your own circumstances which is included on the top of the letter.
We strongly recommend that these letters are not ignored, and you follow the instructions included on the letter including reviewing land holdings that you have been identified as the owner.
If you own land through a trust
Where land is held by a Trust you will be required to provide information relating to the trust and the property purchase.
In limited circumstances if you hold land in a trust there is an option to nominate a beneficiary as the owner for land tax purposes. Before you make this nomination, you should seek advice as this could have consequences for land tax assessments relating to the property and the nominated beneficiary’s personal circumstances now and in the future.
Please contact us if you do have the option of nominating a beneficiary as there are strategies that may be worth considering to best suit your needs.
We are able to update Revenue SA on your behalf of the action Revenue SA has requested. In order for us to do this on your behalf we will require a copy of the letter they originally sent to you. We may also need additional information depending on your circumstances. If you would like our assistance to complete the action required by the due date included on your letter, please contact our office on 8523 0999.
If you are unsure if the letter you have received appears genuine, please also contact our office and let us assist you.
